Here is the video shot during my Nikon D3x trip to Switzerland. Shot with the Nikon D90. I was lucky to be one of the first photographers to use this camera in the UK / Europe.

I’m pleased to announce the new dates for the hugely popular ‘Portraits for Profits’ workshops. Every one was sold out this year and already the first date is sold out within days of going online!
This workshop will deal with all aspects of ‘Lifestyle’ Portraiture’. You will learn how to use diffusers, reflectors, available ambient light, artificial lighting and off-camera flash photography. You will shoot using your own camera indoors and at a chosen nearby external location. Returning to the classroom, you will learn how to edit the images and how to best make them ready to present to clients. I will introduce you to some software tips & tricks and discuss designing albums that appeal to a wide range of customers. We have some great location this year as well. Lets just pray for some decent weather!

Within minutes of the images being posted, I’ve started to receive dozens of emails requesting 100% crops. So here they are:

What can I say. This is the ‘Big Daddy’ of all SLR cameras for professional photographers. I would like to sincerely thank Nikon UK for giving me the opportunity to be one of the first photographers to use the D3x. I’m completely blown away by the image quality and the file size out of the Nikon D3x. I’ve used this camera all of last week in extreme conditions in Switzerland and in London at the Nikon’s flagship event of the year, Nikon Solutions Expo. Initially I thought that this camera would be too big for my type of work, but looking at the images, I want one, perhaps two of these!!
Here are some images which everyone has been waiting for. Without stating the obvious, images may not be reproduced without written permission and are copyrighted.

Shot using the new 50 f/1.4. This is my new best friend! I love it. Used 2 x SB900. Will probably stay all day on one of my bodies during a wedding or a portrait session.

This is inside a very restricted ‘Cheese Cellar’ where very few people can get access to. There are about 1,500 cheese stored in here worth a staggering £500,000! I’ve never seen so many cheese like I did in there.

The weather was not very good for shooting and cleared up for about 15 minutes or so. I had to set up and shoot very quickly and just managed to bag the shots for which we had gone up almost 3,000m up in the mountains. Initially we were planning to go up by a helicopter, but due to poor visibility we had to travel up by train which took almost 70mins.

The set up shows a SB900 lighting up my subject in extremely bright conditions with sunlight reflecting everywhere from the snow. I get to hear a lot of comments, read loads and loads on the forums / internet that the Nikon CLS is inconsistent when using in bright daylight. Well, for me this discussion is over for good. The Speedlights worked (using SU800) without any problems high up in the mountains. Since they work at such an altitude then there be no problems triggering them on Planet Earth! I’ve said this loads of time and I’ll say it again, in my experience of using the SB800 for almost 4 years, I’ve never come back disappointed due to the fact that they failed to fire remotely. They simply work. Period.

I had a Lastolite lighting kit and an Ezybox for my lighting kit. While setting up, the weather closed in and we had to abort the session. We waited for about 30-40 minutes before the weather cleared up for a short time and we managed to set up and shoot.

Shot using two flashguns off-camera as demonstrated above. Having a very portable and lightweight lighting kit makes all difference between getting a shot and missing one!

Will post some more later on.
